You know the feeling of jumping into a luxury hotel bed, landing with a slight bounce on the mattress before cocooning yourself up in the oversized duvet and deep pile of pillows? It’s the epitome of comfort, right? Today I wanted to share how I’ve managed to create that very feeling at home, without shelling out the five-star hotel price tag, all thanks to Woolroom.
Up until the team at Woolroom reached out to me to see if I would like to review their mattress topper, duvet and pillow set, I hadn’t come across many brands like this. But let me tell you, as soon as I opened the packages and made up my bed – on a Sunday with fresh covers of course – it felt like I was sleeping in a sanctuary.
I’ve spoken about this before, but I’m happy to invest money into two things in my apartment – my sofa and my bed. Mainly because I spend a lot of time on both, and as I’ve gotten older, comfort isn’t something I’m willing to scrimp on.
One of the main issues I have when sleeping is either being too cold and then suddenly becoming too warm in the middle of the night. I’m a classic “foot out of the bed” sleeper, which is why sleeping with a wool duvet has been perfect for me. Wool is known to be a natural insulator, keeping me warm when it’s chilly outside and it’s also breathable meaning I can keep cool in the warmer months – actually, we’re in the UK so let’s say, warmer days instead.
I also really like the fact that it’s a fully sustainable material used, but one of the biggest plus points, however, is the fact that Woolroom products are the first scientifically proven woolen hypoallergenic bedding solution that is also 100% natural – certified by Allergy UK no less. For the girl who’s allergic to certain cleaning products, peanuts, soya, peas, has hayfever and sneezes non-stop if I let the cats stay in my bedroom on a night, this is a big selling point for me.
So, what are my honest thoughts?
I wanted to trial these products for two weeks, to really give them a chance to settle and work around my sleep position. The standout product for me is the mattress topper. I already have an amazing mattress, but this wool topper has changed the game completely. It feels incredibly sumptuous to lay on, and I’ve found myself drifting off much faster than I would do normally.
The deluxe wool duvet, meanwhile, is what really gives my bedroom that luxury hotel bed feeling. It has that crispness to it that hotel duvets have, but is soft enough to encase you – something I’m a huge fan of now the colder nights are drawing in. I’ve found myself waking up refreshed and recharged and although I think it could be the fact that I’m jumping into bed at 9pm most nights to make the most of the comfort, I also think my body temperature being regulated is really helping.
Finally, the deluxe wool pillows – the essence of the bed if you ask me. In all honesty, it’s been a change to go from two pillows to just one, and at first, I wasn’t sure how comfortable I was. What I came to realise after the first night, however, is that you can make the pillows as soft or firm as you like by adjusting the tension. All you need to do is unzip the pillowcase, and either add more wool, which can be purchased from Woolroom, or take some out for a softer base. Genius right? After two weeks, I can honestly say I wouldn’t go back to how I slept previously.
Have you ever considered a wool duvet set before? You only have to read the reviews on the Woolroom website to see it’s worth the change…
