I’m so excited to share this post with you today, but not only because it’s Christmas themed and we all know I’m already roasting chestnuts on an open fire, but because I’m so happy with how this shoot came together. I’ve partnered with premium online interiors brand, Amara, to showcase one of four Christmas collections they have this year, alongside interior design bloggers (and all-around talented beans) Jordan and Russell of 2 Lovely Gays, Emily of The Pink House and Jess, the brains behind Gold is a Neutral. The theme I was asked to style was the effortlessly beautiful Winter Blush. Could there be anything more suited to Apartment Number 4? I think not.
Chic and elegant, Winter Blush brings together my favourite pastel shades, from dusty pink through to ice blue, pearlescent finishes and luxe metallics. I knew as soon as I saw this collection it would fit perfectly in my bedroom. You might ask why I’d choose to decorate my bedroom for Christmas and not the living room? When you live with two cats who wait for December to arrive to cause havoc each and every day by tearing down the tree, it’s safe to say I’ll be decorating behind the one door they’re not allowed past this year. Plus, waking up on Christmas morning with my stocking hanging on the bed and the decorations twinkling as the first stream of sunlight makes it way through the curtains, is definitely the perfect way to start the day.
Can we start with how beautiful this quilted embellished velvet stocking by Joanna Buchanan is, please? I’m not sure I could fill this with oranges and new pennies though – I’m thinking more a bottle of Chanel No.5 and some decadent champagne truffles.
I wanted to create a real focal point in the room and what better way to do that than with an amazing flocked Christmas tree. This artificial Snowy Vancouver Mixed Pine Christmas Tree is part of the A by Amara collection and was the most life-like faux Christmas tree I’ve ever had. Alongside the handcrafted white and ice blue decorations, this tree was the centrepiece of the whole room.
Although it’s personal taste, I’m not a huge fan of tinsel and layering bauble after bauble. When you have a tree this beautiful I decided to go down a slightly more minimalist route, letting each decoration shine for itself. With larger Glitter Top Round Decorations placed at the bottom of the tree to balance it aesthetically, I then added more ornate decorative baubles to where the eye would fall naturally. Although each decoration was beautiful, I fell in love with the fancy pants clip-on decorative birds, which I placed at the very top of the tree. I love collecting one-off items like this when the festive season comes around, always within the same colour palette but always with their own eclectic design.
Finally, what better way to sit on Christmas morning and enjoy some Prosecco and a mince pie (and 35 Quality Street, two selection boxes and a bagel), than in a cosy armchair by the window. Combining textures such as the UGG Sheepskin Rug thrown over the back of the chair, with the Pink Sequined Cushion from the A by Amara collection creates not only interest but adds depth to the space, which could look a little flat otherwise. Is it weird to have this much love for a cushion? I mean, if Santa bothered to bring me a husband like I asked for last year, I wouldn’t need to be crushing on a piece of homeware now would I.
So there you have it, a Winter Blush Christmas set-up, all ready and waiting for the big guy to come down the chimney – or at least come through the French doors in my case. I’ll leave them open don’t worry. There couldn’t be a more perfect theme for this season, and I’m sure you’ll agree it’s completely “me”. Although I’ve added most links within the post, you can find the full curated collection right here.
Are you going to have a very, merry Winter Blush Christmas this year?
