It doesn’t happen so much any more, mainly because I’ve turned into a hermit and rarely venture out, but when I was younger I used to conjure up an outfit in my head and not be able to get rid of the thought until I’d managed to find something just like it on the high street.
This happened last night whilst I was laid in bed, when I suddenly started imaginary styling a high neck crop top with an A-Line high-waisted skirt, pointed courts and a big ‘old statement necklace. Now, that’s not highly imaginative I know, but it’s a little different for me and seen as my waist is the only small thing about me right now, it’s the ideal experiment for my next night out with the girls. Plus, you know I love me a high neck.
My search took me from Pinterest to Asos to Topshop in search of said outfit, and after a morning pottering around Leeds I managed to get the top half for a teeny tiny £2.50 and pointed courts for £12 from my mecca, Primark. I’ve also spotted a skirt in Topshop which is perfect but they didn’t have my size so I’ll order online when payday comes around. It’s fair to say, I’m a happy bunny. Here’s a little crop top and midi skirt outfit inspiration.
Is this a trend you’d try out? It’s the perfect style for pear-shaped girls like myself, and might be an alternative to your usual Christmas party dress idea.
