Ah, Homesense, my love. Reunited in the most festive of months and as I suspected, you didn’t disappoint. With some Christmas shopping still to get and my house empty of decorations and Christmas spirit, I headed to the Westside Retail Park in Leeds yesterday morning. If you live in the city you might already know there’s a brand new city centre Homesense, as well as the original Birstall Retail Park location. But did you know about the new Guiseley Homesense store? It’s a hidden gem, mainly because it’s huge, set over two floors and you don’t have to worry about not getting a parking space. And it’s also the perfect place to pick up some last minute Christmas presents – especially if you’re looking for the person that “doesn’t need anything” – in Homesense there’s always something you need.
As part of the TK Maxx family, this homeware brand offers endless inspiration, value and quality. With branded and unique pieces of homeware, I can honestly say there’s never been a time where I’ve left without something in hand. And with up to 60% less than the RRP on every item, it’s kind of dangerous for my bank balance.
Let’s start with the girl boss in your life, the entrepreneur, the stationery lover. There’s a huge range of journals, filing organisers, desk accessories, gift cards and diaries. Basically, everything I love. I always try to pick up a couple of cards when I visit for those emergency occasions where you need a blank card to send. The “I Love You Even Though You’re Not a Cat” card came home with me and is now firmly on my pinboard because let’s face it, I’m never sending that to anyone.
For the glamour puss in your life, Homesense is basically Mecca. From beautiful faux florals to sequin cushions, mirrored jewellery boxes and so many candles I’m not sure you’ll ever be able to choose, there really is a huge choice of gift ideas for those that love the luxe life – all with a massive price reduction. I’m not overly sure where I’d put this huge one-off gold skull below, but I know I like it.
What a lot of people don’t realise is Homesense sells some amazing kitchenware, from heavily discounted big brand names to food from all over the world. Perfect for the foodie in your life. The Guiseley store had some gorgeous Jamie Oliver kitchen pieces, from olive oil drizzle and dip sets to serving platters, as well as a whole host of recipe books (their book section is one of my favourite parts of the store).
What Homesense does best, in my opinion, is showcase the most stunning one-off pieces of furniture you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. So much so if you don’t snap up what you love the second you see it, it’s more than likely to be gone by the time you visit again. But fear not, there’s always something else to fall in love with. I once saw a deep blue velvet armchair and I never thought I’d find something as beautiful as that ever again. Wrong. Yesterday I discovered the teal velvet armchair and my heart skipped a little beat. At £199, I was massively tempted but I don’t have anywhere to put it and I also have no way of getting it up the three flights of stairs to my flat once I’d somehow squeezed it into my car.
Finally, if all your presents are bought but you’re just looking to add some festive joy to your house, then fear not. Homesense has got it covered. With wreaths, toys, baubles, Christmas trees, pet outfits – yes, Christmas pet outfits – table decorations, crackers, festive decor and much more, I’m not sure there’s anything this store doesn’t cover.
So there you have it, a tour around the Guiseley Homesense store in Leeds and in my opinion, the best store in the city – and not only because it’s ten minutes up the road from me. One thing I will mention is that not every store has the same stock, with many being unique and one-off designs, so if you’ve seen something you like in this line-up, it might be worth popping into this store if you’re local to the area. With endless inspiration at prices you’ll love, I don’t think I need to explain anymore why Homesense is my number one store for homeware, interiors, gifts and styling inspiration. Now if you don’t mind I’m off to plan how I can add this teal armchair to my life…
