The only four words that still get me as excited as the first day you whispered them gently to me – Carrie Bradshaw Apartment Tour. Carrie’s brownstone apartment in the heart of Manhattan has always been a space I loved. Like Monica’s apartment in Friends, it became iconic in its own way away from the show, and I fell in love with this 2018 redesign by 3D interior design company Modsy the second I laid eyes on it.
In this feature, Modsy showcase how they think Carrie would have decorated her studio apartment in 2018, had she still been living in the city, chasing Big and buying too many shoes.
“Carrie Bradshaw was a style icon, a relationship aficionado, and always armed with the perfect one-liner,” says the team at Modsy. “And while her outfits were ever-changing and always fabulous, her apartment remained largely the same over the show’s tenure. Bradshaw’s apartment, unlike her wardrobe, had a lived-in and relatable quality that reminded many of us of our own homes. It wasn’t always perfectly tidy and it featured an eclectic mix of furniture styles – think flea market chic alongside mid-century modern furniture.”
I adore the references to her past life – the necklace, the tutu, the Vanity Fair poster – but I also love how chic and modern this design feels. Curves run throughout the space and it’s so light and airy, I want to get the look of Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment for myself. And although the grey tone throughout looks classic, injections of colour from the mustard chair to the teal sofa, add interest and stop it looking too clinical.
