2016 INTERIOR TRENDS: GLOBAL GLAMOUR

Combining a variation of colours, textures and prints, Global Glamour has to be one of the most versatile interior trends of 2016. Think carved wooden furniture – it was actually this beautiful sideboard I spotted at Lifestyle Furniture which got me thinking about the beauty of this trend – exotic finds from you travels and clashing prints on a neutral backdrop.

What I love about this trend is the way you can tell a story with your home decor. Take that hand painted vase you bought on a whim in the street markets of Santorini – you could showcase it proudly, without worrying it won’t fit within your current decor. Plus, this trend can completely evolve with you as the years pass, building with an eclectic mix and match feel of new and old finds.

Although this is classed as a global inspired trend, I definitely see more of a Middle Eastern feel to the pieces I’ve found on the high street when creating my shopping edit below – that, and the rich surface patterns and colours found in Morocco. The key to updating this trend from last year (it was a growing theme throughout 2015), is to team with a more pared back Scandinavian look – white washed walls, bare wooden floors and lots of light.

If this trend is on your radar, then take a look before for how you can create the same feel for your home.

There are so many beautiful pieces available to buy right now for you to be able to create this look and as you’ll see below, I’ve managed to source a few new names to add to my usual go-to list of retailers. I think the key to this theme is mixing both new pieces of furniture, layering authentic ornaments and artifacts picked up on travels or even charity shops. Colour-wise, there really aren’t any boundaries as to what is acceptable, but steer clear or the more pastel and neon shades.

Are you a fan of the global glamour trend? Let me know if any of these pieces catch your eye.
